The sonohysterography is performed by introducing a very thin disposable and flexible catheter into the uterus. This operation does not involve pain or discomfort.
Through the catheter several ml of normal saline (sterile water) are inserted to distend the uterine cavity and highlight any pathology present (endometrial polyps, submucosal uterine myomas, diffuse hyperplasia of the endometrium, uterine malformations, etc) using transvaginal ultrasound.
